Independent Thought Gallery and Studio is a brick and mortar, real, physical space that is a fine art gallery featuring beautiful work  from regional (midwestern) artists.

The gallery started in 2002 in the Valley Junction district in West Des Moines. Two years later, we – (owners John and Madonna Stillmunks) moved the gallery to the Beaverdale neighborhood in Des Moines. After 6 successful years in Beaverdale with the kids growing older and John’s work becoming more popular with collectors and patrons  – we returned the business to a perfect location in Valley Junction to accommodate obviously increased studio/production needs with a more intimate showroom environment for our valued friends, customers, and visitors.

Click on the “Buy Now” button on the painting of your choice on the “Available Works” page and you will be directed to the gallery’s Paypal site to complete your purchase. A Paypal account is not necessary to make a purchase using Paypal. There is no extra charge for using Paypal. We use Paypal for your protection while conducting business online, please do not send your credit card information to the gallery via email, mail, or telephone.

Shipping for artwork is a flat $10 for up to 36×36 two-dimensional work in the continential US only. $5 shipping for work on paper smaller than 9×12. Over 36×36, will be determined by size and weight. Many clients pick up orders from me when I travel to their area for a showing. If you are picking up your purchase at a show or at the gallery, the shipping fee will be refunded via Paypal.

If the artwork is listed as sold on the Paypal page, please contact me to discuss a similar piece or a custom order. Special orders are not charged extra. Please note: all sales are final. We do want you to be completely satisfied and we will make every possible effort to do so. We will work with you every step of the way from the gallery to your home or office – because we consider our relationships with our patrons to be long lasting and professional.

Along with Paypal, we are also continuing our tradition of offering 0% layaway for our customers on anything in the gallery.

Terms are simple, 10% down initially and make a payment each month. That’s it. No credit check. No hidden charges. No extra cost. Receive a statement each month as a reminder. It’s been a great program since we started it – a great way to own the piece of art you fell in love with.
